Chief Executive Officer/Founder
Mad Dogg Athletics, INC.
An industry pioneer in the world of fitness, John Baudhuin is no stranger to hard work and determination. His extensive business background, combined with his passion for health and wellness, was the perfect foundation to build a globally-successful fitness company. Baudhuin received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from the University of California Santa Barbara, and also earned an MBA at Loyola Marymount University. After graduation, Baudhuin worked as a Certified Public Accountant in Los Angeles, where he provided a variety of consulting and strategic planning services.
Throughout his financial career, Baudhuin continued to practice his favorite sport of competitive cycling. Although he enjoyed the challenges of his work, cycling was his passion and escape from the demands and stress of everyday life. In order to balance his job and sports conditioning, Baudhuin knew that his cycling training needed to be more accessible and focused.
In 1991, Baudhuin and his business partner Johnny G. teamed up to build the first-ever Spinning® bike in a Santa Monica, California garage. Though modifications have been made over the years to improve its original design, the authentic Spinning® bike remains unrivaled as America’s number one stationary cycle machine on the market.
After developing this revolutionary concept, Baudhuin recognized the potential for Spinning® and expanded it into a comprehensive product and fitness program driven by quality and focused on fun, safe and effective training principals. Along with building and designing more bikes to meet growing consumer demand, Mad Dogg Athletics began training others to become certified Spinning® instructors so they could share the tenets and passion. The profound success of the Spinning® bike caught on, and Baudhuin subsequently expanded the company’s products and programs to include Peak Pilates®, Bodyblade®, Resist-A-Ball®, Ugi®, CrossCore® and KettleBell Concepts™ which fit within the company’s founding values.
The company’s Chief Executive Officer for 20 years, Baudhuin continues to oversee the corporate strategy, program and product development for Mad Dogg Athletics. Baudhuin works closely with the nearly 100 employees at MDA to drive positive customer experience, product development and overall company value. With a keen understanding of the fitness industry and its opportunity for growth, Baudhuin has placed efficiency and effectiveness at the core of the company’s team values. As a way to help with team building exercises, Baudhuin had a Spinning® studio built at the company’s global headquarters in Venice Beach, California that is only open to employees. Although Mad Dogg Athletics has developed into a worldwide leader for fitness equipment and education, taking presence in more than 80 countries and getting people fit by the millions, Baudhuin never forgets that his success was born of a simple philosophy – making fitness a priority and above all, a safe fun and effective opportunity for people of all ages and abilities.
Baudhuin continues to pursue his passion for Health and Fitness and in addition to the Spinning program, is an avid cyclist, mountain climber and outdoorsman.
